Bleed Out

about

War. Making enemies of ourselves, from the smallest arguments to the largest political movements. I felt like I was trying to make sense of it when I wrote this years ago and lately, I feel like I finally understand that it's not just a mistake, a misunderstanding of our own nature that brings it on. There are those who benefit from war and stoke it. How sad that we fall right into place in their plans. But, whatayagonnado? You have to do what is right in your own mind. I think, if we can stop the bleeding somewhere, anywhere, we are accomplishing something. Fight for what we believe in? Abso-freakin-lutely. But, in the new year, I hope to choose those battles more wisely.

lyrics

After the shots have been fired
Both of us damaged and tired
After the point has been slain
Hangs on the wall like a stain
Or falls where it’s thrown

Nobody wants want they need
Nobody wants to concede
Or ever admit what they meant
When all of the arguments went
Straight to the bone

I don’t want to bleed out
I don’t want to bleed out
I don’t want to bleed out
Leave it alone

Maybe we’re meant to be kings
With all of the power that brings
Never we settle for pains
While everyone pleases and feigns
And we’d sit there on our thrones
Until our pride’s at stake
Oh, the shots we’d take
And the more we’d war
The more we’d make
All these gaping wounds our own
Our own

I don’t want to bleed out
I don’t want to bleed out
I don’t want to bleed out
Leave it alone

Now the reason we're here
Every man, every woman

When love walks in the room
Everybody stand up
Oh it's good, good good
Say I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you - The Pretenders

At some point in my life, I heard this song and decided (before I knew I decided) that my life purpose was to send a "message of love". Be <3
