Sometimes waiting ,sometimes not and, now, not to sleep but to breathe
Lying alone in the heart of what’s cold and dark searching for peace
From the heart now, from the top, over and over it seems
Nothing resolves ‘till the pull of it stops and one of us gets what we need.
Hush and hide. Surging tide
Storm bird calls. Hard rain’s gonna fall
First in stages then, in droves, memories crowding the scene
Some of them real and some of them stolen from dreams that we’ll never dream
So don’t start , baby. Don’t start now. It’s too late to sparrow away
Come in from the porch and lock all the doors. There’s nothing to do now but pray
Hush and hide. Surging tide
Storm bird calls. Hard rain’s gonna fall
All so sudden, all so sudden stuck on the top of a hill
Surrounded by all we thought could hold on still, none of it leaves like you will
Hush and hide. Surging tide
Storm bird calls. Hard rain’s gonna fall
Don’t start , baby. Don’t start now. It’s too late to sparrow away
come in from the porch. lock all the doors. There’s nothing to do now but pray
Hard rain, Hard rain, Hard rain
